 Parent Representative Group presents
Calendar of CCIS & Community Events

The PRG’s Monthly Calendar is a selective list of Northeast Ohio speaker events on the

topics of parenting and educating school-age children. We only list events that appear to be evidence-based and open

to an audience wider than the host school listed. While community-at-large events are included for member

schools’ convenience, they are neither sponsored nor endorsed by CCIS.

*The PRG is a committee of CCIS, whose role is to share member resources with schools, students and their parents.

The Relentless Pressure to Succeed is Making Kids Sick

University School, Shaker Heights Campus

Monday, October 4, at 7:00 p.m.

University School will present a screening of Race to Nowhere, a new documentary film which exposes the silent epidemic in

America's achievement-obsessed culture. The screening, which coincides with National Child Health Day, is free and open to the public

and will be shown at University School’s Shaker Heights Campus in Conway Hall Auditorium, 20701 Brantley Road, Shaker Heights (44122).

View the movie trailer and register online by visiting http://www.us.edu

In the film, director Vicky Abeles reveals how the relentless competition and pressure to perform are creating unhealthy,

depressed, and burned out students who often arrive at college and the workplace unprepared and uninspired.

Race to Nowhere is a call to mobilize families, educators, and policy makers to challenge current assumptions on how to best prepare

the youth of America to become healthy, bright, contributing and leading citizens.
